How much is too much?
In the scene where Jamie Escalante storms out of the class his is unable to see beyond his own frustrations and exhaustion to be as effective as he had been in the past. During a class problem, the students all came to the same answer. Jamie insisted the answer was wrong and stormed out of the class. This is one of the few instances when Mr. Escalante was ineffective. We later come to find that his stress overcame him and led to a heart attack.
During that scene, I was waiting for him to go over his math again, perhaps by working through the problem with his class so everyone had the opportunity to pinpoint what was wrong among everyone's solutions. I think Escalante was so confident in his own abilities there, that he couldn't fathom the possibility that he could err.
